While today marks the last written paper of my A level journey (heheheheheh), tmr is the start of something i decided to do - a 7-day detox!!! Since it restricts intake of dairy products and gluten, i guess it'll be coincidentally a vegan challenge too? Haha, i'm super excited to see how it will turn out.
As compared to many people who probably went to eat good food, watch movie or go on dates today after the econs paper, bin and i went GROCERY SHOPPING. Uh huh uh huh. It's my favourite thing to do as of now (next to baking and cooking and singing). It's funny how i used to love walking around looking at clothes and cameras but now i love window shopping at supermarkets or looking at food processors... ;p
I haven't really decided if i wanna post my detox journey here but i'll definitely journal it and see how it goes! :)
Anyway, here's a picture of what i bought for the detox!!!
Vegetables, herbs, fruits, lentils, seeds, gluten free pasta, almond milk (FIRST TIME OMG SO EXCITED), canned chickpeas and tomatoes - totaled up to around.... $50 bucks
*sobs and i couldnt find kale!!!*
Just a disclaimer: this is NOT what and how much i usually buy. I usually get just sprouts, bananas, some lemons and something else (acc to my mood) which i try to keep within a $10-$15 budget per week. But starting off with a 'clean' diet usually require much more "investment" as you need certain staples like oats, quinoa, grains, nuts etc. I still cannot afford organic stuff!!!
Mentioned above, i love looking at food processors and this is my dream one!!! It's a multi-talent one by BOSCH and it's only going at S$399!!! (limited time only i think) It can be used as a food processor, juicer, blender, mixer, and others i cannot remember but it's pretty impressive! *too much love*
Anywayyyy, in this intensive A level period i got so stressed up that i just felt a NEED to bake. NEED!! So here are products of my baking addiction, enjoy ;)
The bread rose so beautifully :') (and yes, the pan is too small haha recipe called for a 9x5" but mine is ard 8x4ish" -- prolly should get one proper sized one soon)
TADAA, it is a Cinnamon and Dried Apricots Bread (recipe adapted from Laurainthekitchen.com). I used soy milk drink powder in place of dry milk powder (LOL) and dried apricots in place of raisins!
I can swear the roll looks nicer in the middle but i forgot to take a picture :( and it looks quite ugly because of the way it was murdered cut
Banana Crumb Muffins!!! (recipe adapted from allrecipes.com)
They look so pretty, right??? *BEAMS*
They were awesome with a crispy topping and a fluffy cake but was a little too moist. The top layer was too sweet but the cake part balanced it out. Overall really nice :)
Aaaaand, i (finally) made some Vietnamese rice paper rolls for dinner the other day!!! :) The tofu is marinated in curry, sesame oil, soya sauce and honey. I made a sesame sauce dip for this (leftover from a salad dressing the previous day haha)
Overall, i can proudly say i have no regrets for all the papers i've done! Not that there should be any in the first place, unless you went out to play everyday instead of studying (in that case, shame on you). :) I believe everybody has done well too and gave it your best so don't worry for now, just focus on the last two MCQ papers! Do not slack off too much okay i have a feeling they will make it super hard!!! Hahaha, kidding, but do study amidst the already-no-more-A-levels feels :)
Okeh that's all for now, will update again about the detox!
Love, Bel.
p.s. i'm super excited to go to Bangkok - my first time just with friends!!!
p.s.s. i'm excited for a potential trip to Hong Kong again, their food is just so damn gooooood
p.s.s.s. i'm basically excited for everything happening after As muahahhaa - jobs, food processor, transitioning to a vegan, catching up with friends, having a life again, seeing my kids every Saturday... EVERYTHING.
p.s.s.s.s. my new year resolution (yes i'm that excited hoho) of 2014 would be to wean off dairy and eggs!!! Wish me luck :)
