Comfort zone

Yes, indeed, life begins at the end of your comfort zone.

The comfort zone we have is actually just perpetual laziness and reluctance to change your regular routine or what you're already used to. But what we fail to realise is that if we are willing to take that one step, we can achieve so much more.

I have always been a super lazy person and i never liked to stretch out of my comfort zone. I mean, i'm perfectly comfortable here! Why should i move?! But because of this very reason, i regret many things in retrospect. I gave up many chances just because i didn't take the extra effort to get it. Perhaps also because i didn't believe in myself, but mostly it is due to my stubbornness of staying within my comfort zone.

Looking back, i wished i did take the extra step, the extra effort to do the things i wanted to. I keep giving myself excuses to make myself feel better, to feed my conscience, but at the end of the day, i'm still that worthless bum that is only good at generating excuses.

Anyway, our comfort zone, just like any other stretchable material, will eventually get stretched larger and larger. So if we always just try to stretch out of our comfort zone, we will realize how much we can actually accomplish when we look back.

This year, this time, I'm going to take a chance - or a risk, for that matter - and work extra hard to get what i want. I don't know if i can make it, but at least i try. And only by trying will i know how far i can go, right?

You won't know how far you can walk if you don't start with the first step, thinking that "aiya, i won't go far anyway".

My good friend gave me this quote when i was on with my pointless rantings about life:
Just TRY. Nothing begets nothing, while something might beget something really good.

Just wanna thank all of my friends for being there for me always and supporting a worthless bum throughout :')
Thank God for all the chances you've given me and sorry that I've failed to take them/cherish them.

Here's to a year of outdoing myself and stretching out my comfort zone constantly!
Jiayou to all you guys too! Good luck to everybody taking A/O/N levels this year! And also those with major exams! Don't give up!

Gut feeling

Hi guys! It's been rather busy lately, with school, homework and CNY round the corner... So difficult to complete everything within the limited time i have :'( Totally the time when everyone starts tweeting/complaining, "So much to do, but so little time"

Orientation has started and i really really miss being J1, all high and carefree and all - at the start, at least! Regrets set in every time i see the OGLs leading the freshies around. I WANNA JOIN THEM TOOOOOOO! But oh well, should focus on my studies i guess. *think positive*

Let me just do a summary on my mundane life so far (highlights)

  1.  had 2 out of 5 reunion dinner/lunches. Fat die meeee cause i tend to overeat a lot during steamboats :'(
  2.  went to gardens by the bay for subject day!
  3.  cut away like ~7cm of my hair. NOONE CAN SAY IT'S TOO LONG NOW
  4. failed my electric field assignment test badly LOL
  5. too mundane until i cannot remember anything else
Basically that's it?

Anyway, just wanted to talk about this "gut feeling" thing. I tend to be a very emotional creature and do things based on emotions majorly. I get ruled over by my emotions a little too much and this sometimes causes me to hurt myself/ the people around me. But well, the only comforting thing is that at any point in time, I'm staying true to my feelings so... i guess it's good?

I mean, it might be considered selfish to certain people, but c'mon, who doesn't listen to their own heads and make decisions most beneficial to you at any point in time, right?

Well, my heart and head always seem to be at loggerheads with each other (i guess for most of us) and... let's just say i tend to listen to my head because i think overly much about every single thing. Every possible situation, outcome, people's reactions, my feelings, blah blah blah... You get it. So i consider too much of the practical stuff to be able to coolly allow myself to follow my heart, i guess?

But I've been trying to curb the horrendous habit of overthinking every little detail so that i don't make myself suffer so much - found out it's just internal turmoil or self-created trouble.

SO yeah! People out there who care too much about what others think of you, say about you, and bother too much about everything, just take a little break for yourself to breathe (and your over-active mind). Put away all the troubling thoughts for a while and just maybe savour the little things that make you happy. A good piece of chocolate, a nice cup of coffee/tea, a nice walk in the park or somewhere nice, a good movie/show, etc.

Stay happy guys! :)
